FIRST LADIES ONLY MATCH
at Tri-County Gun Club, Sherwood OR
By: Jim McCausland A-9418
The first Ladies Only Match
at Tri County Gun Club in
Sherwood, OR was a success.
Lisa Munson, one of the top lady
shooters in the country, came
down from Marysville, WA, to
win the match. Lisa's attendance
at the match and her
sharing of pointers generated a
lot of interest from the other
competitors. We had more RO's
and helpers than we did shooters.
The ladies were Queens for
the day. No picking up brass,
no taping targets, no score
keeping and no RO'ing. They
loved it. This also gave them
the opportunity to talk to each
other and exchange ideas.
The Shoot-off was set up
while the final scores were being
calculated. Lisa Munson was
the winner of the Shoot-off as
well as winner of the match,
with a total of 534.74 points.
The top 8 ladies in order were:
Lisa Munson, Monica George
Caryn Kletzok, Shirley Angell,
Martie McCormick, Pat Church,
Linda Ray, and Margaret Camp.
The first Ladies Only Match
was kept fairly low key, with
prizes amounting to entry fees
minus costs. The purpose of the
match was not to give out big
prizes but to provide the lady
shooters a good time with lots of
shooting, and I think we accomplished
this.
If we have another Ladies
Only Match next year, how do
I generate more interest and
how do I get a higher attendance?
Would we need to get
the word out better with mailers?
Do we need big prizes? Do
we need a bigger match, more
stages, or two days of events?
Do we need a shooting clinic put
on by someone like Debby
James? When would be a good
time to have the match?
What we really would appreciate
is feedback. Write to Front
Sight and let's hear what.you
want. As the Nike ad says,
"Just do it!" and have a Ladies
Only Match at your club.
