I had a talk with Mike<br />
Mazzotta at last years nationals.<br />
I told Mike "I vvill be glad to<br />
come in second behind a<br />
professional, I just don't have<br />
the time to dedicate to it like<br />
they do." Mikes reply was<br />
"that's bull, anybody can win<br />
this."<br />
After the 90 Nationals I did a<br />
lot of thinking and I began to<br />
agree with Mike. I decided, "I<br />
can beat these guys, I know it."<br />
I was disappointed with my<br />
performance on the standards,<br />
I knew I could shoot that course<br />
5 or 6 points down, but that is<br />
not what I did. In years past I<br />
would then alter my game plan<br />
and try to "catch up." This year<br />
I didn't fall into that trap. I shot<br />
at an even keel all match and<br />
didn't vary my strategy. That's<br />
what it took for me to win. It<br />
took me 6 years to get my mind<br />
straight, and to have the<br />
discipline to shoot my own<br />
match.<br />
