7. Number of Recidivism OffensesThe post program recidivism rates for Traditional and ISP probationers are based on an offender’sfirst reconviction after program completion. For that reason, an analysis was conducted todetermine the total number of reconvictions by offenders who had recidivated. Based on thisassessment, ISP recidivists had a higher average number of reconvictions (1.67) than Traditionalprobationers (1.34) within the first 24 months after completing the program (all probationersincluded in the recidivism analysis had completed the program at least 24 months prior to theanalysis). As stated previously, this may be the result of ISP probationers having a predisposition tomore serious crime and reoccurring patterns of criminal behavior. 8. Type of Recidivism OffensesPart of the assessment on recidivism was conducted to better understand the types ofreconvictions being committed by Traditional and ISP probationers. The results of this assessmentare based on the categories of reconviction offenses developed by the Planning and GrantsDepartment and the 58 th District Court judges. These include alcohol, drug, sexual, weapons, otherpublic safety, and other offenses.
