Here istheir storyTuberculosis is an infectious andcommunicable disease caused by thegrowth of the tubercle bacillus withinthe body. This bacillus is a vegetableparasite, rod-shaped, and of suchlength that it would require ten thousandof them laid end to end to measurean inch. It lives a strictly parasiticlife, which signifies that underordinary circumstances it does not liveindefinitely and propagate its kind outsideof its living host, which may beman, almost any domestic animal, orone of the many animals that have notbeen brought under domestication.Though incapable of propagating itselfoutside of its living host, it is capableof living for a long period of time
