It puts apremium on good ventilation and discountsthe "canned air" house. Whynot extend it to all places of publicmeeting including churches andschools?This is the height of the smallpoxseason. If you go about unvaccinated,you do so at your own risk, and if youcontract smallpox you have no one toblame but yourself. If you are vaccinatedyou can give smallpox thelaugh. You need be no more afraid ofsmallpox than you are of a Mexicaninvasion. If you have been vaccinatedwithin the last five years, you cannurse a smallpox patient without anymore danger of contracting the diseasethan in nursing a case of toothache.Until your local health departmentor the state health authorities can inspecttheaters and public halls, rememberthat unventilated theaters andhalls are little more than incubatorsof disease. If the air seems "close"when you enter such a place, or if theoutside air "smells fresh and good"when you come out, consider yourselflucky if you don't contract that otherfellow's cold or grippe.
