JASON CHIER<br />

CB, Jr., 5-9, 165; Binghamton<br />

2007: Chier was the nation’s leading punt returner, averaging<br />

19.0 yards per return. He earned third-team all-America honors<br />

as a kick returner and was a first-team all-region, all-ECAC and<br />

all-conference pick. Chier, who was named Ithaca’s Outstanding<br />

Specialist at the postseason banquet, scored a pair of punt return<br />

touchdowns – a 75-yard touchdown against King’s and a 70-yard<br />

return against Utica. In the King’s win he also intercepted two<br />

passes and made three tackles to earn a spot on D3football.com’s Team of the Week;<br />

he was also named Ithaca’s Honorary Defensive Captain. Chier made a season-high<br />

seven tackles against Hartwick and matched that total against #6 St. John Fisher and<br />

#1 Mount Union in the NCAA playoffs. He picked up two tackles for loss in consecutive wins at Utica and<br />

Springfield. He made his first career sack in the Utica win and was named the team’s Outstanding Specialist.<br />

He broke up a pair of passes in the Cortaca Jug win. 2006: Chier played in every game at cornerback. He made<br />

his first career start in the Brockport win and stayed in the starting line-up the rest of the season, averaging 4.0<br />

tackles per game in that span. Chier recorded season-best totals of eight tackles and three tackles for loss in the<br />

win over #14 Springfield and was named Ithaca’s Outstanding Back. He was picked as the team’s Hustler of the<br />

Week after the St. John Fisher game. He intercepted his first career pass in the Homecoming win over Hartwick,<br />

returning it 22 yards to set up a Bomber touchdown. Chier was also a standout on Ithaca’s special teams, collecting<br />

five tackles in kick coverage and posting averages of 21.0 yards per kickoff return and 17.5 yards per punt<br />

return. 2005: Chier spent his freshman season with Ithaca’s junior varsity team. High School: A 2005 graduate<br />

of Chenango Forks High School, Chier was coached by Kelsey Green. As a senior, Chier was a team captain,<br />

a Division III all-star at defensive back and running back, played in the Ernie Davis All-Star Game and was<br />

named first-team all-state all-metro. He also was a Division III all-star as a junior and helped Chenango Forks<br />

become the NYS Class B State Champions in his junior and senior years. Personal: An exercise science major,<br />

he is the son of Mark and Karen Chier.<br />

JOHN CIRBA<br />

DE, Jr., 6-0, 252; Binghamton<br />

2007: Cirba played in all but one game and earned his first letter.<br />

He made a pair of tackles, including his first career tackle for<br />

loss in the empire 8 victory at Springfield. Cirba was named to<br />

the Empire 8 President’s List following the fall semester. 2006:<br />

As a sophomore, Cirba was a reserve defensive lineman. He was<br />

named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List following the spring semester.<br />

2005: Cirba spent his first season at Ithaca playing for the<br />

Bomber junior varsity team. High School: A 2005 graduate of Chenango Valley High<br />

School, Cirba was coached by for Jay Hope. He was a division all-star his junior and<br />

senior years, a team captain as a senior and team defensive MVP as a senior. He also<br />

led his team in tackles and rushing yards as a senior. Personal: A business administration major, he is the son<br />

of Susan Cirba and the late Lee Cirba. His sister, Sara, is a 2005 Ithaca graduate.<br />
