At a special ceremony<br />
held in 1998, the press<br />
box at Butterfield Stadium<br />
was renamed the Dick<br />
Lyon Press Box in honor of<br />
the former Bomber coach. The<br />
ceremony, which was part of<br />
Ithaca’s Homecoming Weekend<br />
festivities, also coincided<br />
with the 40th anniversary of<br />
the first football game played<br />
at the facility (formerly known<br />
as South Hill Field).<br />
A group of coach Lyon’s<br />
former players spearheaded a<br />
fund-raising drive that enabled<br />
the school to make improvements to the press box,<br />
which includes private coaching booths for both<br />
teams and broadcast facilities for up to four radio stations.<br />
