- MediterraneanThe spot prices of premium gasoline, gas oil and fuel oil, increased in October 2010, from their previous monthlevels, by 7.6% or ($6.9/bbl) to $97.8/bbl for the Premium gasoline, and by 6.9% or ($6.2/bbl) to $96.7/bbl for thegas oil, where the spot prices of fuel oil increased by 3.8% or ($2.7/bbl) to $72.9/bbl.- SingaporeIn October 2010 , The spot prices of the three products, went up from their previous month levels, by 8.7% or($7.2/bbl) to $89.7/bbl for the premium gasoline, and by 7.3% or ($6.5/bbl) to $95.0/bbl for the gas oil, and by6.2% or ($4.3/bbl) to $74.4/bbl for the fuel oil. Figure -3 shows the price of Premium gasoline in all four marketsfrom October 2009 to October 2010. Similarly Freightrates for crude oil for tanker size (270-285 thousand deadweight tons dwt), leaving Middle Eastern ports to the West,went down by 5.6% or (2 points) to 34 points on the World Scale* (WS). Freight rates for inter- Mediterraneanfor small to medium sized tankers (80-85 thousand dwt) jumped by 34.5% or (30 points) to 117 points on the WS.Figure -4 shows the freight rates for crude oil to all three destinations from October 2009 to October 2010.(*) World Scale is a method for calculating freight prices. One point for the WS means 1% of the standard price of freight in thedirection in the WS book, which is published annually by the World Scale Association. The book contains a list of prices in theform of US dollar per ton, called “World Scale 100,” for all the major routes in the world.7Volume 37 Issue 1
