Preparatory Meeting for CompilingThe Joint Arab Economic Report, 2011The General Secretariat took part inthe preparatory meeting for compilingthe Joint Arab Economic Report, 2011,which was held at the headquarters ofthe Arab Fund for Economic and SocialDevelopment (AFESD) in Kuwait, 20-22 December 2010. The meeting wasattended by representatives from theArab League, the Arab Monetary Fund,AFESD, and the Organization of ArabPetroleum Exporting Countries.The Arab organizations headquarters buildingDr Badr Maal Allah, Economic Advisorat AFESD, opened the meeting by welcoming the representatives of the Arab institutions that help compilethe report and commending the institutions’ sustained efforts to promote and enhance the report. He alsothanked the Arab Monetary Fund for editing the report and coordinating its contents.Moreover, Dr Maal Allah noted the report’s growing importance as a reference increasingly used byresearchers, which underlines the need to continue improving it.The meeting discussed four main topics: the Joint Arab Economic Report, 2010; compiling the 2011report; the statistical data for the 2011 report; and development of the report. The General Secretariat hadattended the preparatory meeting for compiling the Joint Arab Economic Report, 2010, which was held atthe Arab League in Cairo, 21-23 December 2009, attended by representatives of the Arab League, the ArabMonetary Fund, and AFESD.The General Secretariat was represented at the latest meeting by Abdul-Fattah Dandi, Economic Researcherin the Economics Department.21Volume 37 Issue 1
