esearch presented by a) Dr. Khalid Ahmed Khalaf, of the Syrian Arab Republic, entitled “Results of Applying 3DSeismic and Horizontal Drilling Techniques in Exploration and Production Operations in Syria” and b) Dr. MusabBadr Al-Din Al Bareedy, of the Syrian Arab Republic, entitled “Using ASP Injection Technique to Improve theRecovery Factor in Dero Oil Field, Syria.The decision of the adoption of the Council’s for the Award for Scientific Research was taken in 1985 to promoteScientific Research in the field of petroleum and energy industries. Since 1988, Arab and foreign researchersapplied for t he award selected their studies and research according to research topic suggested by the GeneralSecretariat, and approved by the Ministerial Council, all topics related to the extent of the progress in the fieldof scientific research that contribute to the development of petroleum production in all stages, and improve theeconomics of petroleum projects. The topic of the award is selected biennial bases according to its relation to thepetroleum industry, to guide the researchers efforts, then a committee formed by the General Secretariat of OAPECto choose the winners. The winning researches are usually published in the Journal of “Oil and Arab Cooperation”issued quarterly by the General Secretariat of OAPEC.5 – Adopted the recommendation of the Executive Bureau of OAPEC scientific award for 2012: “un-conventionalsources of natural gas resources in the Arab States and the possibility of utilizing them”.6 - Approved the recommendations of the Executive Bureau concerning the Organization’s activities related toimproving the data bank and organizing and participating in symposiums and meetings, it also approved the studiescarried out by the organization.7 – Took note of a report on the activities of OAPEC-Sponsored Companies. The Council was also briefed of theresults of the Thirty-nine Meeting of the Chief Executives of these companies, which was held in Manama on 24October 2010.8- Extended Iraq’s supervision over the Arab Petroleum Training Institute for another year beginning 1/1/2011.9- Approved the renewal of the services of H.E. Abbas Ali Naqi, the Secretary General of the Organization, forthree years effective 1st March 2011.10 - Kingdom of Bahrain will take over the presidency of the next session (2011) of the Ministerial Council andthe Executive Bureau in accordance to the alphabetical order of member countries, as of 1st January 201111 - Decided to convene the next Ministerial Meeting in Cairo on 24th December 2011.A cable was sent to His Excellency President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, President of the Arab Republic ofEgypt on behalf of their Excellencies the Ministers, and head of Delegations to extend appreciation for the warmreception and the generous hospitality.Cairo, 19 Muharram 1432 AH corresponding to December 25 2010.Volume 37 Issue 118
