MEMBERSHIP RELATIONS<strong>COMMITTEE</strong>INTRODUCTIONThe year had been an eventful onefor the Committee as it continuedto attend to miscellaneousmembership matters. For theyear ending 31 December 2009,169 new members joinedthe <strong>Club</strong> through third partymembership transfers.HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEARAs at 31 December 2009, the <strong>Club</strong> had on record 7,936Ordinary Members, 109 Associate Members, 757 LifeMembers, 15 Term Members, 4 Junior Term Members and1 Corporate Member. Excluding Spouse Members, JuniorMembers, Child Members and Child Term Members, ourmembership strength now stands at 8,802. For the year2009, 74% of the <strong>Club</strong>’s registered Junior Members whowere eligible for conversion were admitted as eitherOrdinary or Associate Member. In total, these conversionsincreased the total strength by 130. Simultaneously, 32members were withdrawn from the membership registerupon death, non-payment of <strong>Club</strong> dues or resignation.as a guest if he/she has not been registered as a Junior orChild Member.In 2009, the <strong>Club</strong> received 209 applications for membershiptransfers; of which 169 transfers were to third parties, 32transfers were from Principal Members to their childrenand 8 transfers were from Principal Members to registeredspouse upon death. A total of $1,014,000 transfer fees werecollected from transfers to third parties.The <strong>Club</strong> introduced the Card Access System in Mayand members were issued with new membershipcards for the enhanced facilities. Till date, more than 6,000members had already collected their new membership cards.In October, the Committee has also organised a networkingsession for our Term Members at Three Bars.The <strong>Club</strong> has also continued its effort to send out reminderletters to members to register their child as Junior or ChildMembers when they turn 12 years of age. According to the<strong>Club</strong>’s Constitution, the child would have to be admitted10
