BADMINTONSUB- <strong>COMMITTEE</strong>INTRODUCTIONCSC Badminton continued its growthin 2009, with 142 Section membersand trainees. We also collaborated withnew sports brand powerhouse Li NingSports to organise the inaugural <strong>Chinese</strong><strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Club</strong> – Li Ning BadmintonDoubles (Invitational) Championships.HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEARThe Ronald Susilo Badminton Training Camp was organised in Marchto raise funds for the CSC Centennial Charity. It attracted 26 youngparticipants and raised $1,500 for Dover Park Hospice. C&T SportsTrading kindly sponsored a T-shirt each for the participants.The <strong>Club</strong> hosted the Official Launch of the Aviva Open Singapore2009 Super Series in April. Among the participants were top honchosfrom Aviva and SBA, national players from the past, present, andfuture as well as members of the media.CSC Badminton Team Challenge was held in May and attracted 42members ranging from 14 to 70 years of age. The winners receivedprizes sponsored by C&T Sports Trading.The Singapore Badminton Association selected our <strong>Club</strong> as the AvivaOpen 2009 official practice venue in June for the second successiveyear. In return, the <strong>Club</strong> was given a full-page advertisement in thetournament’s official magazines that were distributed to the playersand supporters of all the 28 participating countries.The CSC Age Group Badminton Championships was held in June for44 young members to display their array of abilities and tenacity in6 different age categories.The Badminton Section welcomed the prestigious Royal BangkokSports <strong>Club</strong> (RBSC) in August for a friendly match. It was a chance forus to reciprocate the hospitality they had showered us with whenour players visited their <strong>Club</strong> for the past three years. RBSC presentedan exquisite Royal Carriage as a souvenir to commemorate the <strong>Club</strong>Centennial Celebrations.Our <strong>Club</strong> teamed up with Li Ning to organise the inaugural <strong>Chinese</strong><strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Club</strong> – Li Ning Badminton Doubles (Invitational)Championships for 98 top players in October.
