Guidance concerning Air Navigation in and above the NAT MNPSA ATTACHMENT 4SSR EquipmentFollowing the oblique stroke insert one of the following letters to describe the serviceable SSRequipment carried:N Nil;A Transponder – Mode A – 4096 Codes;C Transponder – Mode A – 4096 Codes and Mode C;I Transponder – Mode S with aircraft identification transmission but without pressurealtitude transmission;P Transponder – Mode S with pressure altitude transmission but without aircraftidentification transmission;S Transponder – Mode S with both aircraft identification and pressure altitudetransmission;X Transponder – Mode S without pressure altitude transmission and without aircraftidentification transmission.Note:Aircraft capable of establishing ADS contracts should indicate this by the use of the additional letterD, regardless of whether the capability represents the ICAO SARPS-compliant ATN-based versionor a FANS-1/A implementation.Common ErrorsThe filing of correct and complete NAV codes in Fields 10 and 18 is important. Within the NATRegion some procedures and separation standards employed by ATC depend upon ATC's knowledgeof the equipage and/or the approval status of individual aircraft/crew. The following errors incompleting these fields have been noted. These errors create difficulties for ATC and can result inunnecessary penalties or unachieved benefits for the flights involved.- The filing of only a "G" or "I" rather than filing both when the aircraft is so equipped.- The filing of only a "R" and not filing any NAV codes for detailing the actualequipment.- The filing of a "Z" with no further explanation and either not expanding in Field 18 orputting information in Field 18 that is irrelevant to oceanic operations (e.g. RNP-5).3.8 Field 13: Departure aerodrome and timeInsert the ICAO four-letter location indicator of the aerodrome of departure and, without a space, theestimated off-block time.Note:If no location indicator has been assigned, use ZZZZ and insert in Item 18 the group DEP/ followedimmediately by the name of the aerodrome.3.9 Field 15: RouteThis field starts with the initial cruising speed and level. The basic structure of the field followingthis group consists of a sequence of entries, each of which contains a route (or the text “DCT” tosignal a direct routing) and a fix. In addition, a diagonal slash and a new speed/level group can beappended to a fix.NAT Doc 007 112 Edition 2010
