importance of partnership with NGOs and individuals in thedelivery of rehabilitation services.c) For Employers• CSD jointly organized with the Centre for Criminology of theUniversity of Hong Kong the third employment symposium forrehabilitated offenders in March 2004 to arouse potentialemployers’ interest in employing rehabilitated offenders.Through co-operation with local commercial and industrialorganizations, a record number of 400 participants turned up atthe event.• CSD continued to organize institutional visits for potentialemployers to enhance their understanding of the department’srehabilitation services and programmes, in particular thevocational training for offenders and the work skills obtainablein correctional institutions.d) For District Groups• Since 2001-02, DFCCs have organized rehabilitation-relatedpublicity activities jointly with CSD. These included visits topenal institutions, exhibitions, experience sharing withinmates/prisoners, variety shows and voluntary work.• Given the success of the co-operation, the DFCCs support thecontinuation of the initiative at a briefing held by CSD in June2004. Regional Liaison Officers of CSD have been appointedto co-ordinate these district promotional activities.6.4 Apart from the above major publicity and public educationactivities, other publicity initiatives implemented in 2004-05 included a specialvariety show held on 6 November 2004 during the CSD Autumn Fair, inclusionof publicity messages in Government bills and appointment of a famous artiste,Mr Andy Lau, as Rehabilitation Ambassador in October 2004 to help appeal forcommunity support for rehabilitated offenders. Through the CSDRehabilitation Volunteer Group established in early 2004, volunteers,comprising mainly teachers and university students, have been providingassistance and guidance to prisoners and support in the publicity campaign.The Department continued to reach out to community organizations, such asZonta Club, Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Care for Rehabilitated Offenders120
