On a call from the coach both playersmust get to their feet as quickly as possible and win thespace over the ball. To start with, the preliminarycontact is only required and no driving is allowed. Thiscan be progressed so that both players try to win thespace and subsequently try to clear their opponent out.Three players, one with a bag set up in the followingway. The bag man stands in a strong position, theworker leans against the bag in a strong drivingposition with a ball tucked in an appropriate mannerand the thrid player grasps the ball by reachingunderneath the worker. On the bag man’s call, theworker begins to drive for five explosive steps whilstthe third player tries to wrestle the ball off the worker.Therefore the worker must control the ball and drivethe bag man at the same time. This can also beprogressed by the worker presenting the ball and thethird player coming round through the gate to clearout the bag man.One player stands with a ball and tries to defend itfrom the attacker. The attacker simply tries to wrestle itoff the attacker. If the attacker manages to get a holdof the ball then they should present it as if in a game.Player must attempt to wrestle opponent to ground orpush out of wrestling area. Must not last more than 15seconds.One player lying on floor, other player lies across them.Player lying on floor must attempt to get up to theirfeet as quick as possible. Player lying across mustattempt to keep opponent’s back on the ground. Mustnot last for more than 15 seconds.Two opponents face each other and attempt to push(fending only) each other out of the wrestling area.Must not last for more than 15 seconds.Same as above, except opponents can hook one armunder opponent’s armpit in an attempt to pin (shouldertouch ground) or push opponent out of wrestling area.Must not last for more than 15 seconds.The defensive wrestler remains stationary on his handsand knees while the offensive wrestler assumes astarting position with their chest in contact with thedefensive wrestler’s back. On the coach’s command theoffensive wrestler initiates a spinning movementaround the defensive wrestler, contacting the groundwith only their toes and contacting his opponent withonly their chest. Each time the offensive wrestlerreaches their opponents head, they should changedirection. The spinning should continue for intervalsof 15 seconds to 1 minute.One wrestler gets on hands and knees and other isdraped over his partner like a baby koala. On thecoach’s command the bottom wrestler initiatesmovement by crawling, turning, or sitting out, trying toshake his opponent off. The offensive wrestler must tryto maintain the koala position for the entire interval(15 seconds to 1 minute).20
