The formats that are currently supported for importing explanatory series are: CSV (DINO),DAWACO, Excel and Menyanthes. See appendix A for a description of these formats.Figure 6 Window for defining the type of an explanatory series5.2.3 UnitsMenyanthes uses SI units. The units of the different data types are:• Groundwater level and surface water level - meter with respect to a reference level (e.g.NAP, TAW)• Precipitation and evaporation – meters (flux summed starting from date of previousdata entry)• Extraction – cubic meters (flux summed starting from date of previous data entry)5.2.4 Observation of level or summed fluxSome series, like groundwater or river levels, consist of observations of levels at certain pointsin time. For other series, such as precipitation or groundwater pumping, the observations arethe actual fluxes summed over every time step. For level observations this means that you onlyneed to specify the date (and possibly time) at which the observations were taken. Forprecipitation and evaporation, the summed flux or total depth starting from the date of theprevious data entry needs to be specified. Similarly for wells, the total volume in the previoustime interval needs to be specified. In Menyanthes, the date/time of an observation defines theend of a time interval. For example, if the groundwater pumping at well X was 3 million cubicmeters in 2004, this should be entered in the import data as follows:LOCATION FILTER_NR DATE VALUEwell X 1 1-1-2004 0well X 1 1-1-2005 3000000Menyanthes can handle irregular time steps, during the data import process and also during theanalysis processes. This implies that, whenever you need to define an ‘initial condition’ for aMenyanthes Manual© KWR - 18 -
