There are a wide range of partitioningsystems available, utilising a vast range of materials andconstruction techniques. The specialist contractor will providethe high levels of management, operative skills andresources essential to deliver a high quality product. Theirconsiderable experience on similar projects will be ofsignificant assistance to the construction team.System manufacturers design and produce partitioningsystems, which are then tested to meet the requirementsfor various environmental and performance levels. Theprovision of a whole range of design solutions is part of theresponsibilities taken by manufacturers, who have a key roleto play in partitioning design.AIS has grown over the past 50 years to become theleading trade association for the interiors fit out sector ofthe construction industry, representing companies involvedin the manufacture, supply and installation of all aspects ofinterior fit out and refurbishment. Its members can provideoptimum solutions for the installation of interior elements. This AIS Best Practice Guide for the Installation ofPartitioning is not intended as a definitive technical manual,as the manufacturers’ recommendations must always befollowed, but as a guide to the construction team as to bestpractice. AIS encourages all its members to follow theprinciples set out in this guide.4
