The <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> Company collaborates with its bottling<br />
partners and local communities in support of its missi<strong>on</strong> to<br />
foster sustainable communities.<br />
According to its 2009/10 Sustainability Review,<br />
The <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> Company sets global goals and<br />
requirements in a number of areas, including water<br />
stewardship, sustainable packaging, marketing to children<br />
and workplace rights, and it works with bottlers to implement<br />
<strong>the</strong>se standards.<br />
SABMiIIer is an internati<strong>on</strong>al brewer and <strong>on</strong>e of <strong>the</strong><br />
world’s largest bottlers of <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> products. For<br />
<strong>the</strong> purposes of this study, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong>/SABMiller<br />
value chain refers to The <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> Company and<br />
SABMiller’s bottling operati<strong>on</strong>s in Zambia and El<br />
Salvador. This report covers SABMiller’s business<br />
with The <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> Company <strong>on</strong>ly.<br />
SABMiller sustainability commitments<br />
This includes assurance processes in place to ensure<br />
that <strong>the</strong> required standards are being upheld in bottling<br />
plants and <strong>the</strong> bottlers’ suppliers’ facilities. Many of The<br />
<strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> Company’s bottling partners also have <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
own sustainability goals and requirements, which are<br />
implemented at <strong>the</strong> bottling plant level.<br />
The <strong>Coca</strong>-<strong>Cola</strong> Company and SABMiller recognize<br />
that resp<strong>on</strong>sible behavior has a positive impact <strong>on</strong><br />
profitability and ec<strong>on</strong>omic growth. Both<br />
companies aim to secure ec<strong>on</strong>omic benefits<br />
for <strong>the</strong> local communities where <strong>the</strong>y operate,<br />
and also for <strong>the</strong>ir respective shareholders who<br />
benefit from a sustainable business and a return<br />
<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir investment.<br />
