A brief description of each invocation isprovided in the warlock class description on page 5. Theseinclude the blast shape invocations and eldritch essenceinvocations, which allow a warlock to modify his eldritchblast attack, as well as all other invocations. In this section,invocations are presented in alphabetical order, much likenew spells are presented earlier in this chapter. A shortdescription of each invocation by grade (least, lesser,greater, dark) precedes a complete, detailed description.See page 8 for more information on invocations and page5 for more information on warlocks.NAMEThe first line of every invocation description gives the nameby which the invocation is generally known.GRADEBelow the name, the grade of invocation is provided. Warlockscan choose invocations from four grades dependingon their class level: least, lesser, greater, and dark. Seethe warlock class description for more details on whenwarlocks gain access to invocations of a given grade.LEVEL EQUIVALENTOn the same line as the grade, each of the following invocationdescriptions contains a spell level equivalent, whichaffects the save DC for that invocation, Concentrationchecks made in concert with the invocation, as well asinteractions with other spells and abilities, such as globeof invulnerability. The level equivalent of an invocation isprovided after its grade.BLAST SHAPE OR ELDRITCHESSENCESome invocations can modify a warlock’s eldritch blastattack. These invocations are either blast shape invocationsor eldritch essence invocations. They do notproduce an effect on their own like regular invocations,but must be used in conjunction with eldritch blast togenerate an effect. If an invocation is a blast shape oreldritch essence invocation, this fact is noted after thelevel equivalent.130
