North Walsham Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan3: Monitoring and reviewAs recommended by English Heritage, this document should be reviewed every five yearsfrom the date of its formal adoption. It will need to be assessed in the light of the emergingLocal Development Framework and changing national government policy. A review shouldinclude the following:A survey of the Conservation Area including a full photographic survey to aid possibleenforcement action.An assessment of the recommendations of this document and whether they have beenacted upon, and how successful this has been.The identification of any new issues which need to be addressed, requiring furtheractions or enhancements.The production of a short report detailing the findings of the survey and itemisingnecessary action.Publicity and advertising.It is possible that this review could be carried out by the local community under the guidanceof a heritage consultant or NNDC. This would enable the local community to become moreinvolved with the process and raise awareness of the issues in particular the problemsassociated with enforcement.The success of this document will be dependent on its adoption by local residents, regularmonitoring and an effective enforcement strategy to ensure that recommendations areachieved.74North Norfolk District Council
