Notice that there is good torque and horsepower across the entirerpm range, especially in the all important mid range. The dip in torque from 3000 to 4000rpm is typical of the exhaust system used in this test.Parts forTwin Cam 88 ®1999-2006Parts forEvolution ®1984-1999Parts forSportster ® & Buell ®1986-2012Parts forVintage Engines1926-1984PERFORMANCEPARTS33-5195Cam Specifications For 1948-’84 big twin enginesS&S can do a special order cam, please contact your S&S customer servicerepresentative for more informationParts forX-Wedge®2007-2012Parts forVictory®, Off-road& MetricCamNameS&S450SS&S514S&S560SS&S565SApplicationEngines up to88" with up to8.5:1 CR.Good low andmid range torque.80" to 96"engines with 8:1to 9:1 CR.Good mid range.88" to 103"engines w/9:1to 10.1:1 CR.Strong power.98" to 103"engines w/10:1to 12:1 CR.Strong power.ModelYearCamPart No.1948-'69 33-50621970-'77 33-50631978-'84 33-50641948-'69 33-50501970-'77 33-50511978-'84 33-50521948-'69 33-50591970-'77 33-50601978-'84 33-50611948-'69 33-51931970-'77 33-51941978-'84 33-5195Valve Timing1 Open/CloseIntakeExhaustOpen BTDC/Close ABDC Open BBDC/Close ATDC18°/38° 40°/18° 236° 238°23°/43° 43°/23° 246° 246°Valve DurationLift @ TDC3 SpringValve Lift 2 SpacingIntake Exhaust Intake Exhaust Required.475" Pan.453"Shovel.540" Pan.514"Shovel20°/55° 60°/20° 255° 260° .560" Pan25°/60° 65°/25° 265° 270° .565" Pan.158"Pan.151"Shovel.177"Pan.169"Shovel.176"Pan.195"Pan.152" Pan.145"Shovel.177" Pan.169"ShovelNoBolt InYesTappet4TypeRequiredHydraulicorSolidSolid.172" Pan Yes Solid.183" Pan Yes Solid1Timing designation is function of zero lash @ .053" off base circle.2Pan and shovel lifts are determined by rocker arm ratio. Pan ratio is nominally 1.5:1 and shovel ratio is nominally 1.43:1. S&S rocker arms for shovels have 1.5:1 rocker arm ratio, so lift will be the same as pan lift.3TDC lifts are measured at the valve and are for reference only. Overlap valve lifts must be checked on assembled motor.4Cams specified for solid tappets may be used with modern high performance hydraulic tappets for shovelhead engines. Stock hydraulic tappets are not recommended. 1980-'81 engines require conversion to late style valve guidesRacingProductsTools & ShopSuppliesDealer Services& Promo ItemsWarranty &Company PolicyOEM Cross ReferenceAppendix & IndexVisit us at www.sscycle.com5-31
