These are greatfor retro-custom applications and can be used to dress up a stock engine when stock appearance isnot an issue.Gearcovers with eight ribs were used on knuckle and pan engines from 1940-’53. Covers for knuckleengines differ from covers for pans in that they have a fitting in the top of the cover that supplies oil tothe top end. The kit shown here is designedfor use with S&S or stock crankcases and features countersunk screw holes, and includes ¼"-24 and¼"-20 tapered head screws. All gearcovers for S&S crankcases are set up for late style pinion shaftswith a gearcover bearing diameter of 9/16". Four-rib gearcovers are also available for stock crankcasesfor 1954-’62.So called "flat side" gearcovers were used from 1965-’69 on pan and generator shovel engines. The kitshown fits 1965 stock engines with outside oilers for the top end. It can functionally be used to replacefour rib gearcovers for 1963-’64 outside oiler engines, but is not cosmetically correct. Flat side covers arealso available for 1966-’69 engines and for engines built with S&S crankcases. Thistimer comes with a reverse rotation circuit breaker gear installed for correct rotation directionfor modern electronic ignitions. The S&S billet timer must be used with reverse rotation circuitbreaker drive gear in crankcase. Made of billet aluminum and polished to a show finish.Designed to be installed and removed without removing the cylinder head.
