XPM Emulation Command Set Reference9. Parameter [d7] specifies if the host transmission (TX) must be blocked if the XPM detects out-ofpaper.[0] 10 = HOST TX NOT BLOCKED ON PAPER OUT[1] 10 = HOST TX BLOCKED ON PAPER OUTAn unsupported or undefined value will select HOST TX NOT BLOCKED ON PAPER OUT. Thisfeature is used in combination with the hardware flow control only. For hardware flow control, thehost is blocked by lowering the CTS signal.Note that it does not explicitly indicate paper-out when the host detects TX blocked (CTSlow/XOFF). The XPM also blocks the host TX when its internal buffers are full or when it isprocessing data.Also note that most host computers (e.g. MS-Windows, Linux) will stop RS-232 communication ifthey detect host TX blocked. Note that, if Host TX Block on Paper Out is enabled, thesecomputers are not able to communicate with the XPM (e.g. inquire printer status) in cases ofpaper out. Therefore it is strongly recommended that the full ramifications of using this feature beevaluated before enabling it. The most common use for this feature is with unsophisticated hostequipment that cannot evaluate the data returned after a printer status inquiry.10. The new RS-232 communication parameters become effective only after performing a hardwarereset. This can be accomplished through the interface via the ESC [F2] [03] [00] command, or byremoving and then restoring power to the XPM.11.
