Well suited forapplications with thicker plates(>15mm) and high restraint.Thick, flat root passes with smooth tieinare built-up easily on ceramic backing,both in 1G and 2G position. Forthis reason, it is often used in shipbuildingfor the root run, before fillingwith SAW. Also applied for filling shorterjoints, as an alternative to SAW.
