TIFFIN MOTORHOMES –ALLEGRO <strong>RED</strong>® Chapter 13 ROUTINE MAINTENANCERV Finish MaintenanceKeeping your motor home looking its best at all times involves keeping the paint finish clean and in good condition.This means periodic washing and polishing, as well as getting the finish repaired as soon as possible when the paint isdamaged or affected in any way.The purpose of the paint finish is to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance and to protect yourvehicle from the environment. Your motor home is exposed o many environmental conditions that havean adverse affect on the paint finish:• Road salts and sodium chloride• Road tar/bugs• Bird droppings/tree sap• Industrial fallout/acid rain/pollution• UV exposure and moistureThe most common problems resulting from these conditions are corrosion, staining and chemical spotting.These problems can be minimized through regularly scheduled washing and polishing.Tire and Tire Safety InformationThis portion of the Owner’s <strong>Manual</strong> contains tire safety information as required by 49 CFR 575.6. The National TrafficSafety Administration (NHTSA) can be contacted at 1-888-327-4236. It can beobtained and downloaded from NHTSA, free of charge, from the following web site:http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/TireSafety/ridesonit/tires index.htmlStudies of tire safety show that maintaining proper tire pressure, observing tire and vehicle load limits (notcarrying more weight in your vehicle than your tires or vehicle can safely handle), avoiding road hazards,and inspecting tires for cuts, slashes, and other irregularities are the most important things you can do toavoid tire failure, such as tread separation or blowout and flat tires. These actions, along with other careand maintenance activities, can also:• Improve vehicle handling• Help protect you and others from avoidable breakdowns and accidents• Improve fuel economy13-10
