TIFFIN MOTORHOMES –ALLEGRO RED® Chapter 9 EXTERIOR FEATURESHWH Leveling Control PanelThe HWH Computerized Leveling system (Figure 9-5) requires minimal effortfrom the motor-home user. For leveling of the motor home, perform thefollowing steps:Manual Leveling (Standard):1. Turn the ignition switch to the “acc” or “on” position. The enginemust be “off” to level the coach. The transmission shift must be inposition for parking. The park brake must be set either manually orautomatically. If the “not in park/brake” light is “on,” check or recheckthe shift and brake position.Figure 9-5.HWH Computerized Leveling System2. Press the “hyd” button. The “hydraulic operation” indicator light will turn “on” with a steady glow.3. On the right-hand portion of the HWH Leveling Control touch panel, note the outline of the motorhome and the various “raise” (i.e., “up” arrow and “lower” (i.e., “down” arrow) touch buttons.4. Press the respective “raise” (“up” arrow) button to raise the respective side or end of the motor home.A yellow light to the front, side, or rear of the motor-home outline indicates that that side or end is low.The “lower” (“down” arrow) buttons will lower the motor home.Automatic Leveling1. Turn the ignition switch to the “acc” or “on” position. The engine must be “off” to level the coach.The transmission shift must be in position for parking. The park brake must be set either manually orautomatically. If the “not in park/brake” light is “on,” check or recheck the shift and brake position.2. Press the “hyd” button twice—the motor home will automatically level itself.NOTE: The hydraulic jacks will always work in pairs: Front end, right side, left side, or rear end. During transit of themotor home, the “Store” position on the HWH Leveling Console must be engaged.Electric StepsThe Allegro RED is equipped with electric door steps (single- or double-stepversions). As such, the switch to operate these steps is located in the doorstairwell. When the power switch for the steps is in the “on” position, simplyopen the door and the steps will automatically extend. Detailed operation forthe electrical, double-entrance, door steps (Figure 9-6) is as follows:1. Turn the step power switch “on.”2. Close the door. The step should retract and lock intothe UP position.Figure 9-6. Electric Steps3. Open the door. The step should extend and lock intothe DOWN position.9-4

Turning “off” thepower with the step retracted will hold the step in a retractedposition, as well.5. With the step extended turn the step power switch “off” and closethe entrance door. Turn the vehicle ignition switch “on.” Theignition override system will go into effect and the step willautomatically retract.Figure 9-6. Entrance Step SwitchCautionIf the motor home is driven with the step in the extended position, there is thepossibility of causing major damage to both the step and the motor home.6. With the step switch in the “on” position, turn the vehicle ignition switch “off” and open the door. The step willextend and lock in the DOWN position.CautionIf the door is opened and closed without allowing the step to extend fullyand lock in the “DOWN” position, the step will retract and lock in the “UP”position. When the door is re-opened, the step will not extend. The powerswitch must be turned “on” for the step to extend.7. This feature is only operative the first time the door is opened after the vehicle ignition switch is turned “off.”When the ignition switch is “on,” the step will always activate with the door movement, regardless of theposition of the step power switch.CautionAlways be sure to “look before you leap”! When opening the entrancedoor from the inside, be sure that the step has fully deployed before tryingto step outside to avoid falling and possible injury.9-5
