TIFFIN MOTORHOMES –ALLEGRO RED® Chapter 4 MAJOR APPLIANCES & ACCESSORIESWarningIf your motor home is parked in a cold or hot place, the picture may not beimmediately clear. The monitor is not damaged. The picture will becomeclear after the temperature in your motor home becomes normal.Stacked Washer/Dryer (Optional)Your Allegro RED may be equipped with an optional stacked washer/dryer (Figure 4-21). Theoptional stacked washer/dryer can operate on 30 or 50 amp service. It is not recommended tooperate the washer or dryer while traveling as this could damage internal components. Forspecific information regarding the use of the stacked washer/dryer, consult the owner’s manualsfound in the Owner’s Information Package.Note: The 1 ó” gray water valve at the gray tank waste gate must be fully open when operatingthe washer/dryer. For specific information regarding the use of the washer or the dryer, consultthe owner’s manuals found in the Owner’s Information Package.Washer/Dryer (Optional)Figure 4-21. StackedWasher/Dryer(Optional)To protect the driver and other occupants of the motor home, the Allegro RED is equipped with a carbon monoxide/LPgas detector (Figure 4-22). This single compact system provides a powerful combined alarm that detects both CarbonMonoxide (CO) and explosive gases Propane (LPG) and Methane (Natural Gas). This detector uses the latestmicroprocessor technology combined with two electronic self-cleaning sensors that operate independently of eachother. The combined unit can detect both CO and explosive gases simultaneously.Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas which, when breathed, bonds to the hemoglobin in the red blood cells and, thus, drastically reduces or blocksthe transfer of oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body.In sufficient concentrations, CO kills by asphyxiation. In lesser amounts, CO makes thevictim groggy, lethargic, and unable to think clearly or quickly.Figure 4-22. CarbonMonoxide/LP Gas DetectorCO is one of the products of combustion for many materials including petroleum-basedproducts (e.g., gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, butane; among others). Since many of theappliances and the engines associated with the motor home produce CO in their normaloperations, it is necessary to assure that CO levels do not rise to dangerous levels withinthe motor home. In sufficiently high concentrations, CO can kill in minutes. The most susceptible people to CO poisoning are unborn babies, small children, pregnant women, senior citizens, and people with cardiovascular or respiratory problems. Consequently, it is prudent to check the CO monitorregularly for normal operation and to remain aware of the symptoms of CO poisoning which include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, muscular twitching, throbbing in the temples, incoherent thinking and speech, weakness, sleepiness, and intense headaches.4-14
