TIFFIN MOTORHOMES –ALLEGRO RED® Chapter 13 ROUTINE MAINTENANCETo start the vacuum cleaner:1. Push the on/off switch on the main vacuum to the “on” position. Indicator light in switch will come on.Now the vacuum will come on and off by using the wall remote inlet valve.2. To turn on, raise the door up.3. To turn off, lower the inlet valve door down and the vacuum will turn off. The main vacuum on/off switchshould stay in the “on” position all the time, except when traveling.4. To turn completely off, return main vacuum on/off switch to the “off” position. The switch light will go off.NOTE: Vacuum cleaner hose must be plugged into outlet to activate vacuum motor.ImportantThe fading of upholstery, carpet, and other interior fabrics is generallycaused by excessive sunlight. The drapes, blinds, or other shades should bekept closed when the vehicle is parked for an extended period of time tominimize the fading. Normal deterioration of the appearance of suchitems caused by wear and/or exposure to strong lightingis not covered by the Tiffin Motorhomes Limited Warranty.The vacuum cleaning system comes with an array of attachments that can be connected to the hose ends for extensivecleaning purposes. Make sure they are firmly pushed in and twist to hold in place. For further instructions to change thedust bag, use the attachments, and proper cleaning technique, refer to the specific Owner’s Manual located in yourmotor home.13-29

Furniture FabricsThe fabrics used in this Tiffin motor home for the bedspread, draperies,headboard, and valances contain fire-retardant additives that may be damagedby use of improper cleaning products. Cleaning instructions for these items areDRY CLEAN ONLY. Water-based products are not recommended for cleaning thefabrics in your new vehicle. Most water-based, household-cleaning products arenot formulated for use on these fabrics (Figures 13-14, 15) and may causeexcessive shrinkage or fading. For best results, the fabrics in this vehicle shouldbe cleaned by a professional carpet and upholstery cleaner. Spills, spots, or stainsshould be treated as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage to thefabrics. If a spill occurs, blot the fluid with a dry towel; do not rub the spill asrubbing may cause the liquid to “set” in the fabric and cause a stain. Whenattempting to clean a spot or stain, always start from the outside and work inwardto avoid spreading the stain further. Some stains or soils are extremely difficult orimpossible to be removed completely. These stains should receive immediate,professional attention. Spills, spots, stains, or soiled areas are the responsibility ofthe owner and are not covered by Tiffin Motorhomes Limited Warranty.Figure 13-15. Bedroom FabricsWarningWhen cleaning the upholstery and fabric of the motor home, do not use lacquerthinner, nail polish remover, laundry soaps, or bleach. Never use carbontetrachloride or gasoline for cleaning purposes. These substances may causedamage to the materials being cleaned and most are highly flammable.Walls and CeilingThe wall and ceiling coverings should be cleaned periodically to maintain a new appearance. Use a non-abrasivecleaner with a soft cloth on the walls. Do not use solvents of any kind, as those solvents may damage the surfacesbeing so cleaned.13-30
