TIFFIN MOTORHOMES –ALLEGRO RED® Chapter 12 WINDOWS, AWNINGS, VENTS & DOORSVentsThe kitchen has a 12-VDC Fantastic vent fan (Figure 12-4) installed to exhaust kitchenodors. For normal operation, the vent is controlled by a thermostat mounted on the vent.Once the vent power switch is in the “on” position and the thermostat is set to a particulartemperature, the vent fan will operate until the temperature set-point is reached; at whichtime the vent fan will automatically turn “off.” The vent fan should only be left in the “on”mode when the motor home is parked and in use.If the motor home is to be unattended for long periods of time or is to be in storage, makesure that the vent fan is turned “off.” Were the fan left “on,” blustery winds or severestorms may prevent the vent from closing and, consequently, may permit leakage, withpossible damage, into the motor home.Figure 12-4.VDC Vent FanThe bathroom also contains a 12-VDC, vent fan which is controlled by an “on/off” switch mounted on the bathroom wall.DoorsCautionAlways secure the dead bolt lock while the motor home is in motion to preventaccidental opening of the entrance door. The primary entrance door (Figure 12-5) to the motor home is a radius door having akey lock and a dead bolt for additional security. When the door is fully opened, thedoor hinge automatically holds the door in an “open” positionThere is also a screen door associated with the entrance door; the screen door willpermit increased air circulation when the entrance door is open. To enjoy this benefit, the screen door is operated independently of the entrance door. However, when one wishes to close the screen door and the entrance door at the sametime; the screen door latch must be fastened to the entrance door prior to closing theentrance door. Failure to do so will cause the screen door latch to be bent.Figure 12-5. Entrance Door12-4
