CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
TECHNOLOGY
“Every day I get to work at the job I love”
by Kirsty Creamer
Chemical Engineering Technology
Process Engineer, Durez Canada, Fort Erie, Ontario
Graduating from Loyalist’s Chemical
Engineering Technology program was one
of my most fulfilling achievements. I
learned a great deal about the industry
from the faculty members who genuinely
love what they do.The hands-on experience
I gained as a student prepared me for the
workplace and gave me an advantage
over other applicants in the field.
I was hired even before I finished my
internship and now I’m in charge of
technical and process issues for our most
profitable unit. Every day I get to work at
a job I love and learn something new.
Although challenging, the broad subject
areas that are covered in the Chemical
program enable me to tackle any problem
that is thrown my way.
College years are truly the most
memorable years of your life. While it is
important to work hard, the social skills
you gain in college also add to the
experience and will assist you in future
challenges in the workplace.
“If someone’s interests include
both design and the
technological aspects of
architecture then I would
definitely recommend Loyalist,”
said Mark Baechler, a graduate of
the College’s Architectural
Technology program. Following
his graduation from Loyalist,
Mark completed his Masters of
Architectural studies at Carleton
University.With his Loyalist
diploma he was given credit for
four elective courses in his
undergraduate degree, as well as
advanced standing in two of his
five technology courses at
Carleton.
“I gained a solid foundation of
architectural knowledge at
Loyalist before I entered
university which really helped. I
also sat on the Association of
Architectural Technologists of
Ontario (AATO) board as
student representative,” added
Mark.“Studying at Loyalist
allowed me time to mature and
gain some life experience before
attending Carleton.”
