Increasingly, our clients and suppliers alsotake a keen interest in understanding what the companydoes to minimise its impact on the environment as well asthe positive actions <strong>JLT</strong> takes to put something back intothe community.The Workplace<strong>JLT</strong>’s goal remains to create a stimulating, innovative anddynamic working environment where talented individualsare rewarded and recognised for their contribution to thesuccess of the business, both professionally andpersonally.2005 has been another year of considerable changefor <strong>JLT</strong>. In response to these changes, training anddevelopment at all levels featured heavily throughout theyear, with equal emphasis being placed on technicaltraining and the development of ‘soft’ skills. This ongoingdevelopment of our people will be key to our futuresuccess. We are committed to maintaining standards ofexcellence across the Company and nurturing eachindividual employee, and will continue to invest in theseareas.We continue with our aim of attracting and retaining themost talented individuals; welcoming new talent andencouraging employees to look at career developmentopportunities. We promote flexibility and encouragediversity amongst the workforce, both in recruitment andacross all areas of employment, recognising the benefitsthat this brings to the Company.Environment<strong>JLT</strong> considers respect for the environment to be anintegral business responsibility and good businesspractice.To this end, <strong>JLT</strong> has set the following guidelines withinthe Group, to:• Carefully manage waste so as to minimise itsproduction where possible, or dispose of it throughrecycling schemes.• Control and where possible, restrict polluting emissions.• Ensure appropriate regulatory compliance in key areasincluding waste disposal, pollutants, energy andbuilding regulations.• Design and operate facilities taking into account theefficient use of energy and materials, includingtargeting and monitoring systems for energyconsumption.• Encourage the adoption of these guidelines bycontractors acting on behalf of the Company.To help encourage environmental awareness within theorganisation, the Company will be introducing appropriateadditional training for UK facilities management staff. It isalso planned to further promote recycling and theminimisation of waste through the introduction of anumber of new initiatives within the UK.
