ARTICLE 36DURATION <strong>OF</strong> AGREEMENTSection 1. When this agreement has been signed by the parties, it shall be submitted to theDefense Civilian Personnel Management Service (DCPMS) for approval in accordance with 5U.S.C. 7114(c). The agreement shall remain in effect for a period of three (3) years from the dateof its approval by the DCPMS, or the 31st day after it has been signed by the parties, if theagreement has been neither approved nor disapproved by that date. It shall be automaticallyrenewed for three (3) year periods thereafter unless either party shall notify the other party inwriting not more than one hundred five (105) calendar days nor less than sixty (60) calendar daysprior to the termination date or any subsequent anniversary date of its desire to renegotiate theagreement. It is agreed that if such notice to renegotiate has been given, this agreement shallremain in full force <strong>and</strong> effect in order to provide the parties an opportunity to renegotiate thecontract. Any amendments or supplements that may be subsequently negotiated shall remaineffective concurrent with the basic agreement.Section 2. Amendments <strong>and</strong> supplements to this agreement may be negotiated by mutual consentof the parties after a reasonable period of time from date of approval of the basic agreement, ormay be negotiated at any time when such revisions are required by changes in applicable laws orthe regulations of appropriate authorities.Section 3. Within a reasonable period of time after a change in applicable laws or the regulationsof appropriate authorities which affect the provisions of this agreement, the party requestingnegotiation will notify the other party in writing of the necessity to amend or supplement theagreement, citing the pertinent law or regulation <strong>and</strong> the article(s) of this agreement affected.When such notice is given, representatives of the Employer <strong>and</strong> the Union will meet in accordancewith <strong>Article</strong> 10, Negotiations, to negotiate the requested amendment(s) or supplement(s).Amendments <strong>and</strong> supplements will become effective on the date of approval by the DCPMS, oron the 31st day after signing by the parties, if they have neither been approved or disapproved byDCPMS.74
