<strong>Course</strong> <strong>Selection</strong> <strong>Guidebook</strong> – Fall 2011admissions limit has not been attained. Late applicants <strong>and</strong> transfer students should contact theUndergraduate Business Program Office in the Mason School <strong>of</strong> Business (757-221-2910) foradditional information. Appeals from students who are denied admission should be directed to theCommittee on Admissions, Academic Status, <strong>and</strong> Degrees <strong>of</strong> the Mason School <strong>of</strong> Business.Business course enrollment priorities are given to admitted business majors <strong>and</strong> minors. Uponadmission to the Mason School <strong>of</strong> Business, all c<strong>and</strong>idates for the BBA degree come under thejurisdiction <strong>of</strong> the School’s administration, including its Committee on Admissions, AcademicStatus, <strong>and</strong> Degrees, in all matters appropriately pertaining thereto.Early Admission for Study AbroadStudents typically apply to the Majors Program in the second semester <strong>of</strong> the second year or thesemester when total credits earned by the end <strong>of</strong> the semester is at least 54 hours. The secondsemester <strong>of</strong> the second year may also be an ideal semester for study abroad. While it is possibleboth to apply to the Majors Program <strong>and</strong> to study abroad at the same time, many students wouldrather not do this. To remove this impediment to study abroad, the Majors Program has institutedan early admission procedure for students who fulfill the following requirements.You must have completed a minimum <strong>of</strong> 42 <strong>and</strong> no more than 53 semester hours by the end <strong>of</strong> thesemester in which you apply for early admission. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA <strong>of</strong>3.0 at the end <strong>of</strong> the semester in which you apply. You must be enrolled as a full-time student inan international program through the Global Education Office in the Reves Center for InternationalStudy for the semester completed by the time that you enter the Majors Program. Your earlyadmission will be cancelled if, for any reason, you choose not to complete the internationalprogram.Students applying for study abroad early admission follow the same application procedures <strong>and</strong>deadlines as for regular admission to the program. To meet this goal, students participate in abalanced program <strong>of</strong> general education studies, pr<strong>of</strong>essional education courses, <strong>and</strong> school-basedexperiences that promote continuous reflection <strong>of</strong> the knowledge, skills, <strong>and</strong> beliefs which guidetheir instructional decisions. Reflective teachers not only examine their underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> schools,students, <strong>and</strong> learning, but also the content to be taught, <strong>and</strong> the pedagogical concepts <strong>and</strong>practices best suited for the diverse student population in today’s schools.83
