PH ZugLearner Autonomy in Higher EducationAn International Conference at South East EuropeanUniversity in Tetovo, Macedonia29-30 November, 2013This conference, which will take place at South East European University in Tetovo, Macedoniawill focus on one selected learning concept: Learner Autonomy in Language Studies. We inviteteachers and graduate students of language subjects in higher education to discuss general andalso intercultural challenges and developments related to Learner Autonomy.The term ‘learner autonomy’ is one which has gained considerable currency in contemporarylanguage teaching. It emphasizes the diversity and individuality of learning practices both insideand outside the classroom and, fundamentally, it is defined as “the ability to take charge of one’sown learning” (Holec, 1981). Learner autonomy is more and more seen as a key to languagelearning success.We invite papers which reflect on the theory and practice of Language Learner Autonomyand which evaluate this concept’s relevance to contemporary language education at Universitylevel. Papers which include an international comparative perspective are particularly welcome.The Conference is organized by the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Communications at SouthEast European University in Tetovo, Macedonia, in cooperation with the University of TeacherEducation in Zug, Switzerland.Conference languages are German and English.More information: www.seeu.edu.mk.111Volume 1 - Number 1 - 2013
