COLLEGE OFFICES AND SERVICESSection 2The following is a listing of services and programs sponsored by <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Olive</strong> <strong>College</strong>. For furtherinformation, students are encouraged to review the <strong>College</strong> Catalog, see the specific office, or inquire at the<strong>Student</strong> Development Office.Academic Advising2.1Academic advising is coordinated through the Registrar’s Office and <strong>Student</strong> Success Center. This includesassignment of students to an academic adviser, assistance with building a schedule and registration procedures, andcoordination of declaring a major or changing majors. New student and transfer student orientation is alsocoordinated through this office in conjunction with the Office of <strong>Student</strong> Development.Academic Support2.2The <strong>Student</strong> Success Center, located at 549 Michael Martin Drive in the Waylin Center, provides the followingprograms and services: Career Center, Teaching and Learning Center, Disability Services, and Teacher Education.<strong>Student</strong>s are invited to visit these offices for information about these programs and services. See also the <strong>College</strong>Catalog and these listings in the <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong>: Career Center, Teaching and Learning Center, and DisabilityServices.Bookstore2.3The <strong>College</strong> Bookstore, located in the Poole Administration Building at <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Olive</strong>, is an auxiliary enterprise ofthe <strong>College</strong>. It is owned and operated by Barnes and Noble for the purpose of supplying students with books andsupplies required in their classes. Customers will find <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Olive</strong> <strong>College</strong> souvenirs, clothing, and devotional,general and reference books.Campus Ministry2.4The Campus Minister, located in the <strong>Student</strong> Development Office, is available to provide counseling services forpersonal, academic, religious, marital, or other concerns. Help is also available with personal or family crises, lifedecisions, values clarifications, and other areas. When there is a sickness or death in a student’s family, the CampusMinister should be notified.The Campus Ministry Office also provides liaison with churches in the Convention of Original Free Will Baptistsand offers and fosters student spiritual growth through a number of religious student organizations: Free Will BaptistFellowship, Fellowship of Christian <strong>Student</strong>s, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and <strong>Student</strong>s TheologicalFellowship.Campus Safety2.5Every effort is made to make each location a safe place for students to study, work, and live. Questions and concernsshould be referred to the Campus Safety Office or Office of <strong>Student</strong> Development. A Campus Safety Officer is onduty 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of the Campus Community. Special services include Lost and Found,Operation I.D., Campus Escort Service, “Ripped Off” program and Bike and Laptop registration and AnonymousTip Site: www.moc.edu/safety/. Any condition that could endanger the welfare of students should be reportedimmediately to the appropriate authority (a Campus Safety Officer or other <strong>Student</strong> Development staff member).The Campus Safety Office is located in the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center.12
