C. A quorum shall exist when a majority of the voting members of the <strong>Student</strong> Council arepresent. A quorum is required for any official business, including binding votes, to beconducted.Section III: Associate Members of the <strong>Student</strong> CouncilA. Each class or cohort shall be invited to appoint a representative to the <strong>Student</strong> Council.Such representatives will be Associate Members to the <strong>Student</strong> Council with no votingrights.B. The Associate Members serve as a liaison for information between the <strong>Student</strong> Counciland the represented class.Section IV: CommitteesA. Campus Activity Board – Members of the Campus Activity Board serve as volunteerappointments of the <strong>Student</strong> Council. The Campus Activity Board (CAB) is responsiblefor planning and organizing activities for the student body and is funded by the <strong>Student</strong>Activity Fee as administered by SGA.B. <strong>College</strong> Committees – The <strong>Student</strong> Council shall appoint student representatives to<strong>College</strong> committees as requested by the appropriate committee chairperson or <strong>College</strong>administrator.C. Ad Hoc Committees – The <strong>Student</strong> Council shall appoint ad hoc committees to serve asneeded.Article VII: Nominations and ElectionsSection I: Executive CouncilA. A petition bearing fifty (50) signatures of SGA members will be necessary to place aperson in nomination. This petition shall be submitted to the Director of <strong>Student</strong>Activities who will verify that the person meets the qualifications stated by thisConstitution.B. The <strong>Student</strong> Council shall set a date, no later than four (4) weeks prior to the end of thespring semester, for election of the Executive Cabinet Officers.C. All candidates shall abide by election guidelines established by the current <strong>Student</strong>Council. The elections shall be overseen by the appointed representatives of the <strong>Student</strong>Council, none of who may be a candidate in the election.D. A majority of the votes that are cast shall be necessary to ensure the election.Section II: <strong>Student</strong> CouncilA. A majority of the votes that are cast shall be necessary to ensure election.E. <strong>Student</strong> Council Members representing the Residence Halls and Commuters’ organizationshall be appointed by two-thirds vote of the <strong>Student</strong> Council. CAB chairperson is selectedbased upon interview process coordinated by the Director of <strong>Student</strong> Activities. Thissection shall also be made by two-thirds vote of the <strong>Student</strong> Council.Section III: Voting ProceduresA. Voting shall be by secret ballot.B. Only SGA members may vote, and they must sign a registered roster.C. Voting shall follow guidelines set by <strong>Student</strong> Council.D. Votes will be counted by the Vice President for <strong>Student</strong> Development or his/her designeeand the appointed representatives of the <strong>Student</strong> Council.E. Those elected will be announced within twenty-four (24) hours of the election.Article VIII: InstallationSection I: The Executive Council Officers shall be installed at Awards Day in the spring semester.28
