Definitions6.1“<strong>College</strong>""<strong>Student</strong>"refers to <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Olive</strong> <strong>College</strong>.includes all those registered in courses at the <strong>College</strong> at all locations, whether part-time or fulltime."Faculty member" refers to all those employed by the <strong>College</strong> to teach, be it in the classroom, by supervisingpracticums, by offering online courses, or any other medium of education."<strong>College</strong> official" and "<strong>College</strong> employee" refer to any person employed by the <strong>College</strong>, performing assignedadministrative, professional, or staff responsibilities."Member of the <strong>College</strong> community" refers to anyone who is directly involved in providing or receiving the servicesof the <strong>College</strong>."<strong>College</strong> premises" includes all property that is owned or leased by the <strong>College</strong> as well as adjacent streets andsidewalks."Judicial Board" refers to those people who the Vice President for <strong>Student</strong> Development authorized to adjudicatecases in which students have been accused of violating the <strong>Student</strong> Code."Appellate authority" refers to any person or persons authorized by this document or the Vice President for <strong>Student</strong>Development to consider an appeal from a judicial body's determination that a student has violatedthe <strong>Student</strong> Code or from the sanctions imposed by that body."Shall""May""Policy"means an action is mandated.means an action may or may not be taken.refers to the rules, regulations, guidelines, and principles of the <strong>College</strong>, written and non-written."<strong>Student</strong> Code" refers to all rules, regulations, principles, and sanctions that pertain to student conduct and thejudicial process. The <strong>Student</strong> Code may be amended with written notice to the <strong>College</strong>community, with such notice being at least two (2) weeks prior to adoption of the amendment."Complainant"refers to any member of the <strong>College</strong> Community who formally charges a student with a violationof the <strong>Student</strong> Code of Conduct.Generally, <strong>College</strong> jurisdiction and discipline shall be limited to conduct which occurs on <strong>College</strong> premises or at<strong>College</strong>-sponsored events off <strong>College</strong> premises, or which adversely affects the <strong>College</strong> community and/or thepursuit of the <strong>College</strong>'s objectives.45
