<strong>College</strong> and beyond. The <strong>Student</strong> Success Center provides support services for students from enrollment tograduation. This department includes the Career Center, the Teaching and Learning Center, and Disability Services.<strong>Student</strong>s who have not declared a major are assigned to an academic advisor in the <strong>Student</strong> Success Center. Otherprograms coordinated by the <strong>Student</strong> Success Center include Orientation, Welcome Week, Freshman Seminar, andEarly Alert.Teaching and Learning Center 2.19The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), located in the Waylin Center at 549 Michael Martin Drive, provides avariety of opportunities for academic support for <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Olive</strong> students, faculty, and staff. The goal of these freeservices is to enable, engage, and encourage students in their academic endeavors and to help students become moreindependent and successful learners. Services provided by the TLC include small group and individual tutoring,study skills tutoring, periodic workshops, and an extensive website with a variety of self-assessment and selftutorials.The TLC also houses a multi-media library with computers, workbooks, textbooks, videos, handouts, andnumerous resources. <strong>Student</strong>s are encouraged to visit or contact the TLC 1-800-653-0854, ext. 1185 or (919) 658-7792 to request academic assistance or to volunteer as tutors or mentors. The TLC also works closely with facultyand administration to address the needs of students with disabilities. See Disability Services (2.10) for moreinformation.Telephones 2.20Every <strong>College</strong> location is serviced with an office telephone system for official <strong>College</strong> business. <strong>Student</strong>s or theirguests, except in case of an emergency, may not use office phones. Resident students have automatic local servicein their rooms but must provide their own telephone and long distance service. There is a telephone in Hunt Loungefor local calls.STUDENT ACTIVITIES,ORGANIZATIONS, AND OTHERRESOURCESSection 3Athletics3.1<strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Olive</strong> <strong>College</strong> is a member of NCAA Division II and the Conference Carolinas. The <strong>College</strong> has teams in thewomen’s sports of track and field, volleyball, cross country, soccer, basketball, tennis, golf and softball, as well as inthe men’s sports of track and field, soccer, cross country, basketball, baseball, tennis, volleyball and golf.Cheerleading is offered as a co-ed sport.
