(Note that these recommendations deal with issues other thanthe requirements specified in the C <strong>of</strong> A for the site).10.3.1 Operationsa) The PLCCS gravity lines, forcemains and chambers should be flushed in 2009 as required.b) Methane detection and alarm systems should continue to be maintained and calibrated asrecommended by the equipment supplier.c) The <strong>City</strong> should continue to carefully monitor gas concentrations in probe GP00-06. If highergas concentrations persist, consideration should be given to implementing remedial measuresin the area.10.3.2 Monitoring10.3.2.1 Collection Systema) A reduction in the water level monitoring as discussed in Section 3.9 and outlined in the tablebelow is recommended as per the site closure plan.MonitoringWater Level measurements <strong>of</strong> leachate levels in all collection system manholes.Water level measurements in the C (‘outside’ sheet pile wall) and D (betweenlandfill and sheet pile wall) series monitoring wells.Record flow rate and hour meter readings in the main, south and west pumpstations.FrequencyMonthlyQuarterlyMonthly10.3.2.2 Groundwater Monitoringa) A recommended reduction in the groundwater monitoring program is discussed in Section 4.9.This recommended reduction is per the site closure report closure plan approved by the MOE.10.3.2.3 Surface Watera) Considering the water quality results from 2008 and previous years, the monitoring frequencyshould be reduced from eight events per year to four events per year. Monitoring shouldcapture three wet events (enough precipitation to cause run<strong>of</strong>f) and three dry events (noprecipitation for 48 hours prior to sampling).
