Careers staff work closely with allacademic departments and participate in career development sessions scheduledinto academic modules. You are entitled to use the Service both during and afteryour studies, but obviously the sooner you make contact the better – especially ifyou are on a one-year course.Crisalis is an enterprise network run by the University.They will equip you with the skills and experience youwill need to start your own business through the YoungEnterprise Graduate Programme, Community EnterpriseProjects, Working Knowledge Groups and other eventWhether you have a clear view of your future ornot, you may find that a confidential, unbiaseddiscussion with a careers adviser will help youto move forwards. A varied events programmeoffering practical workshops on skillsdevelopment and career management, as wellas talks about particular career opportunities, isoffered in both semesters, and you may also findit useful to sit a series of online psychometric(aptitude) tests similar to those used by manyemployers as part of their selection processes.The Careers Service also contributes to the<strong>Postgraduate</strong> Skills Training Programme run bythe Office of <strong>Postgraduate</strong> Studies.You may also want to visit our website forinformation on all our events and services aswell as vacancies for part-time, vacation andgraduate jobs. We provide useful links to anumber of employer and graduate recruitmentsites, together with useful advice on careermanagement. You may also find it helpful to useProspects Planner, an online careers guidancesystem with information on over 400 graduateoccupations, which will help you to articulateyour skills, interests and motivations and matchthem up with possible career options. A wellstockedCareers Library is also available, withspecialist training videos and a series of freebooklets covering a range of postgraduateoptions and other occupational and careersmanagement information as well as a varietyof other reference and take away publications.For graduate and part-time (including termtime)vacancies, register with JobLink (next tothe shop in the Students’ Union) or visit ourwebsite - targeted vacancies can be e-maileddirect to you. Help is also available to findwork placements and ‘tasters’ with Welsh SMEsadvertised through GO Wales, an ESF-fundedpan-Wales programme.Even with postgraduate qualifications, theprocess of identifying, finding and securing theright job can be far from straight forward. CareersAdvisers are available everyday on a drop-in orpre-booked basis to help you make the mostof your time at Aberystwyth.
