ABSTRACT<br />

This research work entitled <strong>Assessment</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Performance</strong> <strong>Measurement</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

Bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>St</strong>rategy Implementation Among Companies <strong>in</strong> Kaduna Town;<br />

reports the impact <strong>of</strong> effectiveness, efficiency, client and employee satisfaction,<br />

research and development, and a firm’s corporate social responsibility on a firm’s<br />

performance. The relationship <strong>of</strong> these variables to the success <strong>of</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess strategies is<br />

also reported <strong>in</strong> this work. The research looked at problems that are usually faced <strong>in</strong><br />

the various approaches used <strong>in</strong> assess<strong>in</strong>g a firm’s performance. It also carried out a<br />

comparative analysis <strong>of</strong> both quantitative and qualitative performance <strong>of</strong> firms. Samples<br />

from 15 private limited liability companies and 15 public limited liability companies were<br />

selected us<strong>in</strong>g the random sampl<strong>in</strong>g technique for analysis. The Regression and Chi-<br />

Square techniques were used to verify that there is no significant relationship between<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ancial ratios and bus<strong>in</strong>ess strategy. The techniques were also used to prove that<br />

there is no significant relationship between a firm’s production effectiveness and its<br />

bus<strong>in</strong>ess strategy amongst other hypotheses. The research work however revealed that<br />

most staff members at the lower level <strong>of</strong> the firms are not <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the development<br />

<strong>of</strong> various strategies, thus mak<strong>in</strong>g it difficult for them to the implementation. The<br />

researcher recommends <strong>in</strong>teractive process <strong>of</strong> thought, participation and<br />

experimentation should be comb<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g effective and successful strategies.<br />
