- Case study: Montreal, QC
A community-based organization, Collectif Hochelaga Maisonneuve undertook a land
use study on revitalizing a run down area of Montreal through mixed housing and
commercial development, including recommendations on necessary zoning amendments.
• The project reversed the trend of decline in an inner-city community,
encouraging the efficient use of land and resources, saving energy that would
have been used developing new areas.
• Economic development was encouraged, increasing the municipal tax base.
