Sevag Pogharian Design built an innovative detached infill home that was able to altered
and expanded as the needs of the family changed, and included provisions for an
accessory apartment. It is also an Envirohome, meeting stringent energy efficiency,
indoor air quality, and resource conservation.
• Environmental benefits are demonstrated through the use of recycled
materials, environmentally responsible approaches to landscaping and
construction, and products designed to reduce indoor pollutants and allergens;
• Infill development makes more efficient use of land, and existing
infrastructure, reducing sprawl.
• Infill encourages downtown revitalization and economic development.
• Housing affordability is increased because the second can contain a home
based business or an accessory apartment; it can be used to house senior
family members or generate income assisting in mortgage payments.
