RN03: RISK MANAGEMENT OF MAJOR HAZARDS RELATED TO OFFSHORE ACTIVITIES IN ARCTIC AREAS // Scope of work for RN03 in phase 4Task 3 – Prepare and carry out risk managementseminar with emphasis on concrete cases typical foroffshore installations in the Barents Sea.• Objective is to convey best international practicefor risk management and risk assessment tobe efficiently used for exploration, planningand development of oil and gas fields inthe Barents Sea and other Arctic areas• Emphasis on concrete cases typical forinstallations in the Barents Sea.• Cases reflecting both the usage ofrisk management and risk assessmentin the development process.Task 4 – Proceedings/Position paper to document thecontents of the seminar and the discussions that takeplace.The rationale for the risk management seminaris that technical excellence in risk assessment isnot sufficient to ensure that risks are properlymanaged. There is a need to implement the fullrisk management cycle to follow up and manageidentified risk, Figure 1 Risk Management cycle.The intention of the seminar has been toanchor the understanding of the importance of riskmanagement, and what risk management is.
