It may be used as areclosing relay; primaryprotection on feeders; mainsand tie circuit breakerapplications; or as backupprotection for transformers,high voltage lines anddifferential protection.The FP-6000 takes fulladvantage of itsmicroprocessor technology,providing the user newfreedom and a wealth of datagatheringfeatures. The relayperforms self-checking of allmajor hardware and firmwareprotection elements to ensuretheir operation in the event of asystem or component electricalfailure or fault. Protectionfunctions are well suited formain and distribution feedercircuit applications.Programmable logic controlfunctions make the FP-6000relay ideally suited for main-tiemainand main 1/main twotransfer schemes.The FP-6000 is the only relay inits class that offers a flexible,yet simple reclosing control. Itscompact design makes it idealfor polemounted reclosercontrols. The zone interlockingfeature can be utilized for busprotection instead of anexpensive and complicated busdifferential (87B) scheme. TheFP-6000 works directly withthe FP-5000, FP-4000, Digitrip ®3000 and Digitrip MV relays.The breaker failure protectionprovides faster remote backupclearing times for stuck breakeroperation. In addition to thebreaker failure protection, theFP-6000 can be programmedto detect residual current whenthe breaker is open to detectflashover conditions. TheFP-6000 provides trip circuitmonitoring and alarmingfeatures. It continually monitorsthe trip circuit for continuityand readiness to trip. Openand close pushbuttons areconveniently located on thefront of the relay for localbreaker operation.When an electrical faultor disturbance occurs, theFP-6000 begins to store thefollowing in non-volatilememory:●Voltage and currentsampled data●Calculated values● Status of internal protectionfunctions, logic, contactinputs and outputsRetrieval and viewing of thedata is easy, aiding in the quickanalysis and restoration of yourelectric power system.When the FP-6000 isn’tresponding to disturbances inthe power system, it’sproviding valuable meteringinformation at the relay andremotely. It provides energyusage and demand reading,and can alarm when usagereaches a set value.
