The relayscommunicate at 9600/1200baud on the INCOM network.Devices are assigned a threedigitaddress to uniquelyidentify them on the daisychainedtwisted shielded pairnetwork. The Addressable Relay II is aForm C relay on terminals 1,2 and 3, with output contactratings as shown in theContact Ratings table. TheAddressable Relay II may bepowered by 48–120 Vac or48–125 Vdc throughterminals 11 and 12 of theterminal block. DC polarity isnot significant.Application Description● Enables remote control ofnon-communicationcapable devices on Eaton’sPowerNet system●Monitors two digital statusinputs on the PowerNetsystemFeatures, Benefits andFunctionsEach Addressable Relay IIincludes two status indicatingcircuits (IN1 and IN2) that canbe used to transmit thecontact status of devicesexternal to the AddressableRelay II. Each input is isolatedwith its own return. A typicalinstallation using these reportbackinputs to the EatonPowerNet system is shown inthe wiring example. Terminals4 and 5 connect to the statusinput 1 circuit (IN1) andterminals 6 and 7 connect tothe status input 2 circuit (IN2).These status indicatingcircuits operate with inputvoltages of 48–120 Vac or48–125 Vdc circuits. The Addressable Relay IIincludes a feature calledthe “communicationswatchdog.” Thecommunications watchdogmonitors communicationsbetween the AddressableRelay II and the computercontrol station. Ifcommunications are lost, thecommunications watchdogwill reset the relay to the deenergized(OFF) state. TheAddressable Relay II must beupdated every 10 secondswhen the communicationswatchdog is enabled or elsecommunications areassumed to be lost. Thecommunications watchdogis enabled when DIP switch 3is set to the ON position. When the communicationswatchdog is not enabled, therelay will remain in the stateset by the last commandissued. See 420 for DIPswitch configuration.Monitored Parameters● Output relay energized/de-energized● Input 1 status● Input 2 status● Breaker status open/closed● Protective relay statusnormal/trippedCommunications● Built-in INCOMcommunications formonitoring in Eaton’sPowerNet systemThe Addressable Relay II alsoincludes a feature called“relay pulse.” The relay pulsefeature sets the AddressableRelay II to a pulse modewhere the relay is energized(ON) for 10 seconds and thenis de-energized (OFF). Therelay pulse is enabled whenDIP switch 2 is set to the ONposition and disabled whenDIP switch 2 is set to the OFFposition. If this feature is notenabled, the relay will remainin the state set by the lastcommand.414 Volume 3—Power Distribution and Control Assemblies CA08100004E—December 2010 www.eaton.com
