It may be usedas primary protection onfeeders, mains and tie circuitbreaker applications, andas backup protection fortransformers, high voltagelines and differentialprotection. The relay ismost commonly used onmedium voltage switchgearapplications.The FP-4000 takes fulladvantage of its microprocessortechnologyproviding the user newfreedoms and a wealth ofata-gathering features. Therelay performs self-checkingf all major hardware andfirmware protection elementsto ensure their operation in theevent of a system orcomponent electrical failureor fault. Protection functionsare well suited for main anddistribution feeder circuitapplications. Programmablelogic control functions makethe FP-4000 relay ideally suitedfor main-tie-main and main1/main 2 transfer schemes.The Zone-Interlocking featurecan be utilized for busprotection instead of anexpensive and complicatedbus differential (87B)scheme. The FP-4000 worksdirectly with Eaton’s Digitrip3000 and Digitrip MV relays.New breaker failure logicprovides faster remotebackup clearing times forstuck breaker operation.The multiple settings groupscan be utilized for arcflash mitigation when analternative setting group,set to have instantaneouselements only is activatedusing a selector switch andthe programmable I/O inthe FP-4000.The FP-4000 provides tripand close circuit monitoringand alarming features. Itcontinually monitors thecomplete trip and closecircuits for continuity andreadiness to trip. Open andclose pushbuttons areconveniently located on thefront of the relay for localbreaker operation.Loss-of-vacuum monitoringis activated when the breakeris open.
