TheMP-3000 Motor Protectionuses this information formonitoring, tripping andalarming. The MP-3000 Intel-I-Trip overload algorithm willadjust its trip characteristicsbased on the actual motortemperature reported by theURTD Module. This improvesthe protection by using anactual temperature valueinstead of the assumedNEMA Standard AmbientTemperature.The URTD Module may bemounted close to the motoror at the protective relay.Both electrical and fiber opticinterface ports are providedto communicate temperatureinformation to the MP-3000relay. The electrical interfacecan transmit informationusing a three-conductorshielded cable with amaximum cable distance of500 feet (152m). The fiberoptic link has a maximumdistance of 400 feet (122m).The URTD Module may beused with the IQ-1000 andIQ-1000 II motor relays. Itmay also be applied as astandalone temperaturemonitoring devicecommunicating, for example,transformer temperatureinformation back to a remotecomputer or PLC.
