COMPONENT B - MODULE 1Component B - Module 1:The Economic Contribution of Core Copyright IndustriesObjectiveTo apply and test a methodology for the establishment of key economic data and related analysisfor the core copyright industries.Methodological NotesThe data collection and analysis of Module 1 is relatively straightforward, as the concernedindustries are captured and reflected by international standard industry classifications. Guidelinesdeveloped by WIPO clearly identify the core copyright industries using the relevant industries’ ISICcodes. The value added is calculated for the total output of these industries.The main difficulty in implementing this module will relate to the fact that many of the culturalbusinesses are not registered, and that their economic activities are often too small to be reflectedin national accounts. However, as more and more countries apply the WIPO model as a basis fornational studies with technical assistance from WIPO, ways and means are also identified to dealefficiently with these issues.Data CoverageFor the identification and delimitation of the core copyright industries, refer to Annex 1.NoteModule 1 will be implemented with technical assistance from WIPO.27
