The project’s focus on strengthening the national capacity for planning, monitoring andassessment of activities in the cultural industries sector will give the activities a region-wide impactand high visibility. At the same time, it will provide a programming platform for joint and coordinatedactivities between international agencies and national governments and institutions.Ultimately, the results of this capacity building at different levels indicate a changed situationin which cultural industries development is generally recognized and pursued as a strategy notonly for poverty reduction and community vitalization but as an inalienable component of moresustainable development.The main characteristic of this changed situation is that cultural industries have a bigger impactand role in society, economy and trade as indicated in increased throughput/output data for thesector.
